Comprehensive and sustainable rehabilitation of masias with respect for heritage
At Cottage Properties, we specialize in the comprehensive rehabilitation of masias, restoring their historical essence and adapting them to modern standards of comfort and sustainability. One of our most notable projects includes the transformation of an old, uninhabited masia with a mill into a livable space, where original elements are preserved and every aspect of livability is enhanced.
This project maintains the original character of the building, with meticulous attention to design. The rehabilitation covers the entire structure, from restoring the wooden beams and board roof to creating a mixed concrete slab with wooden beams, reinterpreting the traditional roof with a modern touch.
The layout of the masia is divided into a ground floor used for living room, dining room, kitchen, and services, while the upper floor includes a large room, two bedrooms (one en suite), and a full bathroom. In every area, each original material of the structure has been systematically recycled: beams have been repurposed for door lintels and support, while new walls are coated with natural mortar, finished in various textures to blend with the original environment.
In terms of energy and supply management, the project balances a self-sufficient system with external contributions, ensuring efficiency and respect for the environment.
